What JobsiteBoss stores, why it stores it, and who else can see it. Written to be read, not to be survived.
What we store about you
Your account: your name and email address, and which company you belong to. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider — we never see your password.
Your company: its name, address, licence number, logo, and the rates you set — wages, machine costs, material prices, overhead, margin.
Your work: estimates and their revisions, customers and leads, jobs and what they cost, crew members, equipment and its hours, the schedule, and any website you build here.
Billing: which plan you are on and its status. Card details go to Stripe and are never stored by us or visible to us.
How you found us: if you arrived on a link carrying campaign tags — from an advert, a newsletter, or somebody else’s website — the five standard utm_ values on that link are kept in your browser and recorded once against your company when the account is created. It is how we tell which advert brings contractors who stay, and it is the only thing we keep about how you arrived. It is never your name, your address, or anything you do here, and it goes when the account does.
Details of your customers
When you add a customer or a lead, you enter another person’s name and contact details. They have no account here and no agreement with us.
For that information you decide what is collected and why; we hold and process it on your behalf, on your instruction, and for no other purpose. If one of your customers asks you what is held about them, or asks for it to be removed, you can answer from your own account — and we will help if you need us to.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not use one company’s rates, prices or job costs to inform another’s — the figures in your account are yours, and every query the app makes is scoped to your company.
Nothing you enter about your work — estimates, customers, jobs, what they cost, your rates — is ever sent to an advertising platform, an analytics service, or anyone else outside the companies listed below.
Who else touches it
Running the service means a small number of other companies process data on our behalf:
Clerk — sign-in and account identity.
Stripe — payments and card details.
Neon — the database your records live in.
Vercel — hosting and delivery.
Others are used only when those features are switched on: an email provider, when you send a quote from the app, and a mapping provider, when you use address lookup on a job site. Where a feature is not configured, nothing is sent anywhere.
Anthropic — reading a job description you type into the scope box. See “The scope reader” below for exactly what is sent.
Meta — advertising measurement on our own marketing pages, and never on yours. See “Advertising” below for exactly what is sent.
The scope reader
The estimate builder has a box you can describe a job in, in your own words, and it turns that into a list of work to price. Reading it is done by a model run by Anthropic, so the words you type go to them.
What is sent: the description you typed, and the list of work types your account can price — their names, their units, and the sentence describing each one, including any you added yourself.
What is not: your wages, your machine costs, your material prices, your overhead, your margin, or any price. Nothing about your customers, your jobs, or what any of it earned. The reader is told what kinds of work you sell, never what you charge for them.
It reads, and it does not write. What comes back is work and quantities, which arrive as draft lines for you to accept, edit or throw away. No price it suggests ever reaches a customer, because it never suggests one — every figure on your estimate is worked out afterwards, by us, from your own rates.
Nothing is sent unless you type into that box and press the button. Build an estimate the way you always have and nothing leaves at all.
Advertising
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, and we measure whether those adverts work. Our marketing pages — this one, the home page, pricing, help, and the sign-in and sign-up screens — carry Meta’s measurement pixel, which tells Meta that a visit happened and whether it came from one of our adverts.
When a company finishes setting up, and again if it later subscribes, we tell Meta that it happened, along with the plan and its price. Your email address is turned into an irreversible fingerprint before it is sent, so Meta can recognise an existing customer of their own without us handing over the address itself. We also send the network address your browser connected from and the description your browser gives of itself, which is how Meta tells one visit from another when its own cookies are missing. We do not send your name, your company’s name, or anything at all about your work.
This happens on our pages only. The website we build for you, and every document your customers open — the quote, the invoice, the change order, the progress page — carry no pixel and no tracking of any kind. Those pages are yours and your customers’, and measuring our advertising on them would make your customers part of a transaction they have no share in.
Stopping it is not one switch, and it would be easy to imply that it is. A tracker blocker stops the pixel on our pages. It does not stop the two reports above — that a company finished setting up, and that one subscribed — because those are sent from our own server rather than from your browser, and nothing installed in a browser can reach them. Meta’s own Settings → Accounts Centre → Your information and permissions covers what Meta does with both, and neither affects your use of the product. Write to us at jobsitebosssupport@gmail.com if you would rather we excluded your account entirely, which is the only way to stop the reports themselves.
The quote link
A quote you send opens on a link containing a token, without a sign-in. Anyone holding that link can read that estimate, so treat it the way you would treat an emailed PDF. It shows the scope, price and conditions — never your costs, your overhead or your margin.
How long we keep it
We keep your records while your account is open, because a finished job from three years ago is what makes this year’s estimate more accurate. Ask us to close the account and we will delete it and everything in it, apart from anything we must keep for tax or accounting.
Asking for your data
Write to jobsitebosssupport@gmail.com and you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion. Depending on where you live you may have those rights in law; we intend to honour them regardless.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is scoped to your company at every query, and roles limit what each person in your company can reach. No system is perfect; if something happens that affects your data, we will tell you rather than wait to be asked.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will say so in the app or by email, and the date at the top will change.
